Hotel owner prosecuted for failure to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

A hotel owner were recently fined £210,000 and £50,000 costs for failure to meet the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
A hotel, The Chumleigh Lodge, was successfully prosecuted by the London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority for failure to comply with the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The Chumleigh Lodge Hotel Limited was fined £210,000 with £50,000 costs for failure to carry out a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment.
In addition they failed to provide staff with adequate fire safety training, failed to ensure emergency exits routes from the premises were kept clear, failed to adequately equip the premises with fire detectors and failed to ensure that other fire safety equipment and devices were maintained in a good repair.
