Chescombe Limited pleaded guilty to the following offences - failing to implement the requirements of the fire risk assessment; failing to provide adequate fire alarm and detection equipment; inadequate fire resisting doors; failing to ensure escape routes were kept clear; and failing to maintain a final exit door and self closing fire doors.

Travelodge pleaded guilty to seven fire safety offences under the RRO(FS)O 2005 after a fire started during refurbishment works at its Gatwick Airport Central hotel.
Travelodge pleaded guilty to seven fire safety offences under the RRO(FS)O 2005 after a fire started during refurbishment works at its Gatwick Airport Central hotel. Travelodge were subsequently fined £13,000 and ordered to pay an additional £6,500 costs.
The seven breaches were - an inadequate fire alarm system; failure to review their fire risk assessment, inadequate fire safety training for staff; no planning, organisation, control and monitoring of fire prevention and protection measures; failure to properly maintain fire safety equipment obstruction of escape routes and blocked fire exits.

A hotel owner were recently fined £210,000 and £50,000 costs for failure to meet the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
A hotel, The Chumleigh Lodge, was successfully prosecuted by the London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority for failure to comply with the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The Chumleigh Lodge Hotel Limited was fined £210,000 with £50,000 costs for failure to carry out a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment.
In addition they failed to provide staff with adequate fire safety training, failed to ensure emergency exits routes from the premises were kept clear, failed to adequately equip the premises with fire detectors and failed to ensure that other fire safety equipment and devices were maintained in a good repair.

A Chinese Restaurant owner who had converted the loft space of his building into living accommodation for his staff has been convicted for sixteen offences under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
A Chinese restaurant owner who had converted the loft space of his building into living accommodation for his staff has been convicted for sixteen offences under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
After being informed by the UK Boarder Agency who had previously inspected the premises, Fire Officers from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service visited the Teng Chinese Restaurant. On inspection the Fire Officer found, inadequate means of escape and no fire alarm or emergency lighting installed.
As the loft space conversion had placed occupants at risk of death or serious injury in the event of a fire, a prohibition notice was served ensuring that part of the premises could not be used until improvements were made.
Xueling Teng the Restaurateur pleaded guilty to all 16 breaches of fire safety and was duly fined £2000 and ordered to pay...

The owner of a Manchester off-license has been fined £22,000 and order to pay £4,000 for failure to provide an effective escape route from the living accommodation above his shop.
The owner of a Manchester off-licence has been fined £22,000 and order to pay £4,000 costs for failure to provide an effective escape route from the living accommodation above his shop.
In addition the owner failed to provide a suitable fire alarm system and failed to keep escape routes clear.
The windows on the first floor were secured by external metal roller shutters.
